Erich- Corner Bench The corner bench is a traditional piece of furniture. Its natural habitats are the rural kitchens and smokey bars of Germany . It stands for a conservative comfort, the strong sense of great tradition. Nowadays, the corner bench belongs to a dying breed of furniture, even though it offers exceptional qualities for apartments with limited space. Its peculiar L-shaped seat makes the corner bench a static object, using space more efficiently than its little brother, the chair. It offers various multiple uses such as sitting together to play Skat, napping, emailing on whilst stretching out your legs, storing winter vegetables beneath or drinking coffee whilst your Great Dane rests beside you… To re-introduce this great breed of furniture, the needs of a target group of people living in city apartments with limited amounts of space were carefully studied. The result of this project was Erich- a corner bench founded on the methodical analysis of various homes and how they are utilised. Its removable and flexible upholstery system responds to the individual needs of each user. Erich provides a space of comfort to be enjoyed by one in vivid company or alone.
